The year is 1991. Two years have past since that fateful Christmas Eve, the one that linked seven lives together, in some cases purely by chance. A lot has changed since that night. Though at the same time one thing has stayed the same; friendships and lovers are just as strong as they always were.
Mimi Marquez and Roger Davis have since moved in together in the loft below Mark's. Mimi has gone through extensive rehab and Roger's--and Benny's--insistence, though even still she finds herself struggling sometimes. She is currently trying to restart her life; she spends a lot of time observing at The Dance Workshop dance studio, and has even gotten close to a few of the students there. Though she has no degree to speak of, she is being payed for doing odd jobs to keep the workshop in running order, and is allowed to sit in on a few classes. (Note to whoever may play Mimi; it is up to you whether the events of Christmas Eve 1990 happen in this RP). Roger is Mimi's cheerleader so to speak (though he'd never call himself that) and supports her any way he can. In some ways Roger is worse off than Mimi is, as he's still unemployed with no real idea in sight as of yet. However, he's been getting out of the house more and more; ever since he moved in with Mimi she just won't let him sit around all day. He sees a lot of Mark, often when Mimi's away he'll call the filmmaker down. The two of them still have their ups and downs, more so than Angel and Collins but less so than Maureen and Joanne. Underneath it all though they love each other very much and are going strong.
Mark Cohen resides alone ever since Roger moved into the loft below theirs. It's a shock for him to be so alone, and it's not something he enjoys. It gets so quiet at times, and not to mention the rent--when he pays it--is way too steep for him alone. Currently he's looking for a roommate; really he'd be happy with anyone as long as they'd fill the silence. Because of this he doesn't spend a lot of time at home, many days he finds himself plonked on Roger's couch, or out with Angel, or sometimes even with Maureen. He's finally over her, but he still finds it hard to be alone with her. All the bohemians love him dearly, but they agree; he needs a roommate. Or, maybe, even a girlfriend.
Angel Dumott Schunard and Tom Collins are just as in love as they ever were. The two of them, like all the couples, have had their rough patches, but they always come out closer in the end. Collins, miraculously, has sustained his job at NYU. There were many times when he's been unhappy, but he knows it's important to keep himself and Angel under a roof, and to keep them both supplied with their medication. Angel isn't working, instead she spends her days keeping Mark company so he doesn't lose his head. She doesn't mind it at all, she figures playing mommy to the bohemians is a full time job. Though, lately, sometimes, she's been wondering what it'd be like to be an actual mommy. Whole Love Agencies is an adoption agency that boasts it's desire to keep an open mind and to create many diverse and loving families. Angel and Collins are about as diverse as they could possibly come. Will Angel be able to convince Collins that they would be good parents? And if she does, will their HIV+ status mar their chances? (Note: In this RPG Angel never became ill).
Maureen Johnson and Joanne Jefferson still have their problems, to be perfectly honest. But after so much time together, they've learned how to deal with each other and what to expect. Joanne knows to stop flirting all together would be very difficult for Maureen, and she also knows that flirting's as far as it will ever go. Joanne is still working as a lawyer, a fairly well respected one, too. Her income is able to keep the two of them in a rather nice apartment building in a different community than their friends. That doesn't stop them from going down five times a week, of course. Maureen is constantly thinking up a new protest for her cause of the week, whatever that may be. The two have a pretty loving relationship...however. The new inhabitant of the apartment three doors down from theirs happens to be Maureen's high school sweetheart. This has created a new strain on their relationship.
Benjamin Coffin the third is still residing in his posh abode far from the bohemians. Despite that however, he's seen the error of his ways and is trying to make it up to his friends. Having payed for Mimi's rehab, he's regained her trust as well as Collins' and Mark's. Others, such as Roger and Maureen, are not so easy to persuade. Benny is still married to Allison Grey, though despite his effort, only time will tell whether they will be able to save their marriage.
